Everyone needs to take a break during a long trip on the road. Truck stops and rest areas offer the truck drivers a chance to relax, recharge, and even have some fun. But what do we like about truck stops?

Well, the gas prices are lower, retail stores are also special and there is always some sort of entertainment.

But, the real thing is the feeling that you are not alone on the road.

Nevertheless, much needed shower and bed usually comes in affordable prices for truck drivers.

Here’s where you can have the best time:

  1. The Iowa 80 Truck Stop

This is known as the world’s largest truck stop. You’ll find everything here from a movie theater to a wonderful trucking museum. Truckers are sure to stop by here with all of the amazing services that are available. Location – Walcott, Iowa. The parking lot boasts enough spaces for 900 tractor-trailers, 250 cars and 20 buses. And if you have a pet with you, you can give them a bath at the Dogomat Pet Wash! Pretty cool place!

  1. Sapp Bros

The 16 Sapp Bros travel centers are primarily located on Interstate-80 from Salt Lake City, Utah to Clearfield, Pennsylvania. In addition to being a rest stop, the company also provides 24-hour roadside service. Many truck stop locations include a movie theater, medical facilities and laundry rooms. Some locations even include bathtubs and saunas for a truly relaxing pit stop. And if you plan to have a party, the Columbus, NE location have a banquet hall for rental!

  1. Little America

In Flagstaff, Arizona at Exit 198 off of I40, you will find rest stop called Little America . You will probably think that you entered in luxury hotel rather than a trucking stop. It’s a gorgeous 500-acre hotel with a golf course, swimming pool, fitness center, and business center. There’s also a travel center with a gas station, and the convenience store is open 24/7, fully stocked with books, groceries, CDs, DVDs, and souvenirs. And don’t forget to try the Travel Center Grill where you can find $0.50 ice cream cone!

  1. South of the Border

This stop is located off of I-95 in Dillon, South Carolina. Here, you can find six different restaurants, ranging from casual dining to a steakhouse. Also, here you can enjoy the largest indoor reptile exhibit in the US, the Reptile Lagoon. And it’s open every day! You can have some fun in Pedroland, which is a great amusement park with a ferris wheel, carousel, bumper cards, mini golf, and an arcade.

  1. Buc-ee’s 

There are 26 Buc-ee’s locations across Texas. They feature convenience stores with huge restrooms, tons of gas pumps, and delis. The convenience store on Interstate 35 between Austin and San Antonio is longer than a football field. It’s the largest in the world with it’s 68000 square feet, featuring 60 gasoline pumps and 31 cash registers. In 2012 The New Braunfels location won Cintas’ 2012 America’s Best Restroom Award.

If you can’t visit them, you may wanna try also R-Place Restaurant near Morris, Illinois on I-80, also Jubitz Truck Stop and Travel Center just off of I-5 in Portland, Oregon. Don’t forget about Trail’s Travel Center off of I-35 in Albert Lea, Minnesota and Bear Lake Rest Area and Overlook, located off of Route 89 in Bear Lake, Utah, where you can find the rest stop with the best view in the US.
